It is a common practice to install a good basement subfloor when refinishing your your basement. This is because subfloors are necessary to make the structure of the space more durable and much better to walk on.

Basically, the basement subfloor acts as a foundation for the flooring material. The floor covering that is utilized calls for a shielding material under it to keep moisture from damaging the carpet, tile or what other materials you select as the floor covering. There are various subfloor materials that you can buy, however, it would be a good idea to compare the costs as well as the quality beforehand.

A basement subfloor is a good way to finish a basement that has a concrete floor. The majority of basements already come with a concrete floor and this makes it simpler to work with a wooden subfloor as the covering.

Do not start your subflooring project until you have evaluated the room for any existing problems. Check the foundation and fix any source of moisture access. Clean and vacuum the concrete and get rid of any ridges that may get in the way of the installation. Check that you have all the tools and materials ready. Your tools should include things like subfloor panels, spacer boards, hammers, leveling kit, circular saw, pull bar, square, wood blocks, spiral saw/jugsaw, tape measure, chalk and reel and pencil. Youll also need safety materials such as safety glasses and a dust mask.

Next, plan the layout of the subfloor. Measure the length and width of the space from a preliminary corner. Partition the measurements by 2 feet or width of the panels. Remember that the panel joints are to be spread out from row to row. Drawing a course layout on paper will assist you in picturing your basement refinishing project.

Once your layout is done, place a few lines on the slab to highlight the areas of the first few rows. This will assist in directing the staggered joint areas until you have the first few panels applied. The applied floor will also require a inch expansion gap around all perimeter walls and space protrusions. Apply these straps along the end and butt the panels against them.

With the straps installed, put the first panel in your preliminary corner. Based on the size of the space and your ensuing layout, this first panel or row may not need to be hacked to size. Line up the following panel and employ a hammer and wood block to hit together the tongue-and-groove joint. Attach the panels tightly to prevent any division in the seams. Complete the process from one side of the space to the other, one row at a time.

The important this is that your basement subfloor is either water-proof or water-resistant. Have a good moisture barrier underneath the basement location before installing the subfloor. Choose only good materials to lay for your subfloor to ascertain that it will endure for several years. Numerous kinds of flooring can be applied to make your basement versatile and pleasurable for your family and guests.

Almost 90% of the traders in currency markets are speculators. Most of the investors start forex day trading as a speculating venture to make capital gains. Once you have made the positive decision to start currency trading, you need to choose the right forex broker. The right choice will greatly influence the success of the whole enterprise.

These days, the market is overcrowded with companies and banks offering online brokerage services to individual traders and investors to access the currency markets. It is not easy to make the right choice without a certain set of criteria. These criteria will mostly depend on the interests, preferences and means of each individual trader depending on his/her trading strategies and tactics.

The best method to choose the right forex broker is to compose a list of questions to ask the forex broker before making a final decision. The following are some of the suggested questions that you should ask the forex broker before making a final decision.

What is the amount of the interday and overnight margin and corresponding leverage? Many good online forex brokers offer margin between 2-5%. They provide leverage ranging from 20:1 to 50:1. Higher margin requirement means lower investment efficiency.

However, beware of lower margin. It means that most of the time the forex broker will be against you as a trader and will do everything possible to prevent you from winning. You will face many trading problems with such a broker. It will become difficult for you to work under such conditions.

What is the minimum contract size offered? Now days, the standard contract size is a $100,000 lot. This contract size is quite affordable. This contract size also allows small individual investors to participate in currency speculation. It allows for reasonably effective money management with limited capital.

What are the minimum deposit requirements demanded by the forex broker? It is not unusual that many new traders dont have sufficient funds to open an account. The investment and financial means of traders differ. $10,000 is the required minimum amount corresponding to the forex market conditions by good dealers. In my opinion, the optimal minimum amount is $10,000 with 2% margin requirement.

What are the terms of setting and executing stop and limit orders by the forex broker? The ideal condition should be the execution of the stop and limit orders at the fixed price. This should be regardless of the market conditions, its speed and its direction. Some forex brokers provide this type of execution. Other brokers reserve the right to fulfill an order with slippage under unsteady market conditions mostly defined by the broker themselves.

The value of slippage depends on the current state of the market and can fluctuate from a few pips to tens of pips. The slippage creates favorable conditions for the abuse of the trader by the broker. Although it is practically impossible to arbitrate the price received from the broker during the transaction.

When faced with a work injury, no matter how severe your physical or mental situation, nine times out of ten, you will be denied assistance. This can be a huge financial blow to those who have waited it out for weeks just to receive a response. The most important step you should take next is to contact a disability attorney.

A worker is covered under the companies work related injury rules, but sometimes, the insurance company doesn’t do its job by failing to properly review each case, or deny a persons claim without any basis to deny said claim. Often, an injured person is able to perform light duty, but still may be denied benefits, even though he cannot return to work full time and needs medical and financial support. This is the whole point of insurance in the first place; is to help when a worker needs it the most.

This is why disability attorneys specialize in these types of claims. They have seen the failure and dishonesty on the part of insurance companies to do their jobs, and they want to help you get the money you rightly deserve, not save insurance companies money.

A good disability attorney should have years of experience uncovering what is bad faith on the part of insurance companies to properly process an injury claim. A good disability attorney will not only tell you if you qualify for legal assistance, the attorney may also help you receive monetary damages due to any needless suffering, which could have been prevented had the insurance companies been honest in their evaluations and decision on your claim.

If you believe you have been denied benefits unfairly, dishonestly, or because your case received a decision not determined by your injury or health status, seek an experienced disability attorney as soon as possible. An experienced disability attorney wants the justice system to become aware of insurance companies plans and quotas of commonly practicing unfair or dishonest denial of coverage in bad faith. Disability attorneys can be your greatest supporter in assisting you in claiming your rights.

Your employer paid for work related injury insurance coverage and you should expect to be paid when the time comes that you really need it. Let a disability attorney help you today.

by Michael Tan

Netbooks are everywhere, on buses, on trains, on planes… and in the classroom. It seems the little netbook has come out of nowhere to become extremely popular overnight.

What is a netbook actually?

Netbook is the smaller version of a laptop, typically built with a 10-inch screen or smaller. Most of these computers run Windows or Linux and usually priced below $500. It was originally built so people will be connected to the Internet wherever they maybe.

First introduced by Asustek when it launched the first Eee PC in the fall of 2007. But it was only in the last year when we saw the explosive growth of these so-called mini-laptops. Now we have many computer companies such as HP, Dell, Lenovo… all jumping on this craze for a small portable laptop. So much so, that netbooks now is the fastest growing segment of the laptop industry and is expected to reach 139 million units by 2013.

Why is there a sudden popularity for the small netbook? Perhaps the answer lies mainly in our constant quest for mobility. We want a portable device that will keep us connected to the Internet and yet be small and light enough to be carried around all day. A truly ultra-portable device that keeps us connected with family, friends and the web.

The next question you have to ask: why do netbooks make for great student laptops? If the above reasons aren’t enough, try the following:

Size- Netbooks make great laptops for students because it is small and handy. It has a 10-inch wide screen display, which is very ideal for students. They are very light and compact, making it easy for students to tuck the device inside their backpacks or school bags.

Portability - As mentioned above because the netbook is so small and compact, it is very portable. A very mobile device that we can use to stay connected to the web and friends. Connectability is one of the main features - you are connected to the web at all times.

Sturdiness - Almost all netbooks are designed to be tough. As we all know students are mostly careless when it comes to their school stuff. Having a netbook would be perfect since it can withstand more pressure than those regular laptops.

Battery Life - Since netbooks are small in size, they do have longer battery life compared to regular laptops. This is also vital for students who spend all their time in school and don’t have a chance to re-charge.

Performance - These computers might be small in size but specs wise many of them are still impressive. Most of these gadgets come with 1GB RAM and an Intel Atom processor. Some of the netbooks even have Solid State Hard Drives. Many of these mini-laptops can run Windows Vista or Windows 7, although performance might not be that great compared to the regular laptops.

Storage - The storage capability of netbooks nowadays are gradually increasing, however since these are just mini laptops, you cannot always expect a wide storage capability as compared to regular laptops. Normally, netbooks can only reach up to 60 GB, which is only perfect for students.

Price - One of the many reasons why netbooks are great for students is because the price is very affordable. Most students do have limited budget and a laptop that has a price of $300-$500 makes a great deal for them.

The small form factor, portability, sturdiness, long battery life, good performance, adequate storage, these are the things that makes the netbook the best choice for students. The netbook is perfect for the classroom and the students.

"Every man dies; not every man really lives." -William Wallace, Braveheart

by Michael Angier

“Every man dies; not every man really lives.” -William Wallace, Braveheart

The movie Braveheart, starring and directed by Mel Gibson, is one of my favorites.

It’s the story of the legendary William Wallace in his valiant struggle to free Scotland from the oppressive King Longshanks of England. It’s a bloody and violent film (although not gratuitously so) filled with treachery, injustice, betrayal and courage.

For me, one of the most profound lines in the entire movie was uttered by Sir Wallace shortly before he was tortured and executed by his enemies. The princess of Wales was pleading for his life and begging Wallace to swear allegiance to the King, thereby avoiding a slow and excruciatingly painful death. She says to Wallace, “If you do not, you will surely die.” To which Wallace responds, “Every man dies; not every man really lives.”

It was as true in the 1300s as it is today. We will all surely die. The only question is when and where. If we have the chance to reflect upon our life before we pass, will we say that we truly lived?

Most people in the twilight of their lives have more regrets for what they didn’t do than for what they did. They wish they had done more, seen more and felt more. They wish they had lived with more gusto.

Don’t let that happen to you. Life is not something to be endured. Life is meant to be lived full out. But most of us, for a variety of reasons, have pulled back-we live carefully and guarded-not allowing the full expression of who we are and what we believe.

Be enthusiastic! It’s contagious. John Wesley said, “Set yourself on fire and people will come for miles to watch you burn.” You don’t have to be flamboyant about it either (although it might help). Genuine enthusiasm lies just beneath the surface and is always bubbling to the top. What many people think of as enthusiasm is simply exuberance pasted on the outside.

It’s always been amazing to me that people will demonstrate more enthusiasm and excitement for their favorite sports team than they do for their own life. They think nothing of acting a little-or a lot- crazy rooting for their team but have little or no enthusiasm for the big game-their life.

Forget about what people might think. Like Mel Brooks said, “If you’re alive, you’ve got to flap your arms and legs, you got to jump around a lot, you’ve got to make a lot of noise, because life is the very opposite of death . . . You’ve got to be noisy, or at least your thoughts should be noisy and colorful and lively.”

That way, when your turn on the planet is done, you (and others) can say you lived your life, you really lived.

I invite you-no, I implore you-to look carefully at how you’re living your own life. Where are you just going through the motions? Where are you not living full out? What would your life be like if you gave your all-to your job, your family, your community, your beliefs, to your mate?

Living full out is the only way to really live.

by John Edward

When you get right down to it, there is no good way to instantly learn how to play guitar. While there are methods that you can use to cut down on the learning curve, you’ll discover that you are never going to be able to pick up and get good at it in one day.

If you want to learn to play the guitar, be ready to devote a fair amount of time to it. People who are proficient on this instrument devote hours and hours of their time to it, and one important key is that they are patient.

In fact, most of the famous guitarists had been playing guitar for years before they made it big. Even when you get very good at playing guitar, there will always be something new to learn.

First, make sure that you know the different parts of the guitar. What do they do? Then start in on the easy chords. Don’t jump too far ahead and stay away from the power chords until you know what you are doing.

If you want to make the most out of your practice time, make sure that you master one chord before moving on to the next. Every chord should be learned with the proper hand placement on the string and it should have good intonation.

When you want to get good, remember that repetition is the key. Remember that easy songs are your friend and that you should concentrate on playing them well. Look over the chords that you have already learned.

By learning and mastering each chord, you’ll find that it is important to build confidence in yourself. The more songs you master, no matter how easy they are, the more confident you can be. Remember that you are working towards continually getting better than you were the day before, rather towards some definite goal.

The key to learning how to the play the guitar lies with having realistic expectations and in building off of knowledge that you already know. There are a lot of tutorials out there that can really help you out.

If you want to learn to play the guitar easily, then the first step is to find quality instruction. It doesn’t matter in what form. You can take guitar lessons from someone who knows how to play. You can buy DVD guitar instructions. You can even find guitar lessons on the internet.

If you are interested in learning to play the guitar quickly and without fuss, consider getting into an online guitar course. This can teach you a lot and you don’t even need to leave your house to do it. Online guitar lessons are fairly inexpensive and you’ll find that there are lessons that can suit you whether you are a novice or an expert.

Nuisance lawsuits are filed against businesses every day. Some are won, some are dismissed and some never come to a civil jury. The chances are that the ones that were dismissed and the ones that never came to a jury had evidence presented to either the attorneys or jury from a CCTV system. A CCTV installation provides many opportunities for a business, shoplifting is reduced, employee actions can be monitored and the actions of customers in the store can be monitored and recorded. The monitoring and recording of the actions of the customers can and will successfully reduce the number of nuisance lawsuits.

The CCTV installations in and around the store provide the store owners the ability to defend against unwarranted lawsuits. Recording the store and its surrounding environs provide documentation of the actions in the areas of view of the cameras. These recordings are invaluable to the attorneys for the owners of the store.

When images from the cameras located in and around the store are recorded the time and date that the image was recorded is inserted onto the video. This image when combined with an accurate time and date provides incontrovertible evidence that a person who has initiated a nuisance lawsuit was either not there or not injured at the store.

Some nuisance lawsuits are filed against a store due to the purported negligence, inattention or rudeness of a clerk. The CCTV installation can show how the clerk approached and dealt with the customer. Often the video footage when presented to the plaintiff’s attorney will result in the matter being dropped. The video evidence can not be denied or invalidated.

Judgments in nuisance lawsuits can amount to hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars. A CCTV installation in a store costs a fraction of that amount. The CCTV installation, if it denies even one nuisance lawsuit has paid for itself multiple times over. This CCTV installation will provide invaluable assistance to any business.

If I were to have to pick the number 1 thing that many new traders have to deal with, its the fact that they never really take the time to truly learn and understand the complexities of the market. Most, in fact rely strictly on using lagging indicators. These are the kind of trading systems where the trader is basically hoping that all his indicators line up in the same direction. I’m not trying to make fun of these traders, because this is exactly how I used to trade, and believe me, I did not have much success.

After all, can you honestly say that you understand what the market is doing when all you are doing is looking at some kind of indicator that is telling you WHAT HAS ALREADY HAPPENED? Of course not!!!!

Not to be rude, but the market couldn’t care less whatever your indicators are telling you. Stochastics mean nothing, and I can prove it to you. When you think about the most successful traders who have ever lived, do you think they are using stochastics to tell them what is going on in the market? I don’t really think so. However, if you want to take the time to study what most of these traders to care about, there are two words: PRICE ACTION.

They all might not use price action the same manner, but you can bet that every trade is derived from what the activity of the market prices are telling the trader. It doesn’t matter if its stocks, bonds,e-minis, derivatives, whatever…… It all comes down to how the prices are moving. And to be honest, there isn’t that much separating the million dollar traders from the traders who blow up their account in a matter of a week. It’s not like the incredibly successful traders are a whole lot brighter than the struggling traders. Its not as if they graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard with a major in forex trading. Truthfully, many of them hardly even finished high school. So intelligence, or lack there of isn’t an obstacle.

When it comes to the rich traders and how they became successful, you have to know that they are to truly and understand what the market is saying to them, much like a person would read a book. These traders actually understand the fundamental reasons as to why price will start and stop at certain price levels. It’s not just a bunch of lines on a chart. It’s more complex than that. You can use this kind of information you get rid of that job you can’t stand earn a living, trading the market.

Its not really difficult. Anybody can understand price action. Its just that most people don’t want to take the time to really understand how to read the energies of the market. Everybody always wants that holy grail or magical indicator that people can just plug into their trading platform and it’ll do all the work for you. Well, it doesn’t work like that. It would be a great if it did, but it doesn’t. I had to learn that the hard way. But, as is life, you live and you learn.

The most difficult part of this, is to get somebody to actually teach you how to visualize the market in this way. It’s quite difficult to learn yourself. If it wasn’t, then we would all be millionaires. The majority of the time you just need someone to guide you so you can understand the information that you need to know, and after that you are home free. This is what Trading in The Buff does. I have purchased other courses before and I have been burned. With so many courses out there, it’s hard to see the differences between the junky courses and the real courses. But I thought I would give this a shot.

After reading the course and watching the videos, something amazing happened: I noticed that all the important information that has been staring at me right in the face. I used to trade with every conceivable indicator know to man. Thankfully with this course, it was the last forex training that I would ever need. I honestly thought that I would be jumping from one course to another for as long as I was a trader, but thanks to this course, I have realized that less is more. In fact, I don’t think you actually can see the market’s energy with your own eyes can you really call yourself a trader.

I often see new copywriters, when they complete their training, begin by writing for the Internet. A mistake I see, however, is they fail to keep in mind the key differences between writing for the Internet and writing for print. We will cover some of these differences here, and I promise if you keep these “golden rules” in mind as you write for the Internet, you will achieve much success.

Writing for the Internet is different from traditional publishing in three crucial ways:

Audience

Format

Lifespan

These differences are important and must be taken into consideration writing for the internet.

Audience

Audience consideration is a primary factor when writing for the Internet, just as it’s a key consideration for any writer. But while writing basics may remain the same - understanding who your primary audience is, for example - there are some major differences.

First, in traditional publications your audience is somewhat a given. Once they have actually picked up or purchased a newspaper or magazine they are likely to at least give it a few pages before setting it aside. However, remember when writing for the Internet your audience can move on from your words with one click of the mouse. You need to be highly focused and on target all the time. You can’t take much time for introductions, slow buildup or indirect discussions. If you, the writer, do not seem to be delivering the goods then the reader will simply move on and fast. This does not mean you need to cater to the lowest denominator ” please do not treat your readers as stupid ” but it does mean that you need to know your audience well and how to respond to that audience’s needs and desires.

Format

Something else to think about when writing on the Internet is to consider the “skimmers”; readers who breeze through your copy without reading the whole thing. So what you have to do is be very clear in your writing. For example, headlines that pack a punch, carefully worded subheadings, and introductions and conclusions that are solid and full of good content.

Trying to mimic traditional magazine articles or offline printed documents is a common mistake that I see in new writers. Actually there are some big differences. Because a reader will read the Internet differently from ‘physical pages’, like say in a book, writing for the Internet requires some different techniques. The entry point is one of the most important. Did you know that a search engine might send readers to a point somewhere in the middle or end of your document? Now, if you wrote concise and accurate content, readers could very well go back to the beginning of your article to read it properly. There is a way to avoid this altogether though, that will keep the ’skimmers’ skimming. Try breaking longer pieces of text into a few stand-alone sections that fit together as a whole document or even separate documents if looked at in the same manner. (This article, broken into individual stand-alone segments, serves as an example.)

Lifespan

The last major difference between writing for the Internet and more ‘traditional’ publications is what I refer to as lifespan. Because the Internet operates with a very rapid nature, people often make the mistake of thinking the lifespan of online content is limited. Nothing could be further from the truth. The ‘magic’ of the Internet is that content may last for years - potentially forever - which is why many offline publications now archive their material online. But you must be careful. While your writing should always be current, you want to be wary of being too topical. This is a good way to date your material. This is not good. Your readers may be reading your words a long time off in the future and you want it to be as “fresh” as the day you wrote it.

By keeping these three “golden keys” in mind when writing for the Internet — audience, format, and lifespan — you will find success.

Your foundation is the support system for your complete house, so if it doesn’t succeed your home could literally come tumbling down! If your house has developed foundation cracks, signs of settling, or other suggestions that your foundation may not be wholly sound, it’s necessary to call your basement contractor today. Professional contractors can evaluate your house for appearances of damage and take the proper steps to ensure your foundation is strong enough to support your home for years to come.

Signs of foundation issues often manifest themselves throughout your home, not just in the basement itself. So if you are nervous about shifting or settling, check for:

* Drywall cracks * Sticking doors or windows * Openings between walls and ceilings/floors * Nails coming out of drywall * Windows out of square * Sloping or unlevel flooring * Sloping or unlevel flooring * Cracks may include:

* Masonry cracks * Gaps between bricks and doors/windows/garage doors * Gaps between chimney and house * Sagging roof line

These symptoms are all warnings that your foundation is facing major issues, from settling to bowing and wall cracks. These issues can be due to poor site drainage, soil upheaval, construction on non-compacted fill, major plumbing leaks, and poor construction (relative to site conditions). If you notice ANY of these signs, call a repair specialist straight away. It is important to get your house on the way to recovery A.S.A.P. The excellent news is that the professionals will fix your foundation, ensuring your house is adequately supported.

There are a wide variety of solutions for foundation issues, each tailored to match the particular condition and reasons for your house’s issues. Repairs can include:

* Wall stabilization: When your foundation fails to stand up to the pressure exerted on its main walls, it can crack, bow, crumble, and shift. Wall stabilization buttresss and supports stressed walls, strengthening them and forestalling further damage. Excellent for all types of foundations ( including poured concrete, cinder block, brick, and clay tile ), we advocate a carbon fiber stabilizer applied to your basement walls with hi-tech polymers. With wall stabilizers in place, your foundation will be fortified enough to resist hydrostatic and soil pressure for long term strength and support. * Piering : If your home is disintegrating due to settling, piering is the solution to stabilize your foundation and halt the further progression of damage. This system essentially combats settling by supporting and lifting your foundation. In fact, masonry and brickwork cracks can often be closed, effectively undoing the damage! Using helical piers, piles, and anchors to secure and raise settled portions of your foundation, your pier system is custom designed with your home’s needs in mind–ensuring that once installed, your house will be safe from extra settling. * Foundation crack repair: Crack repair is available in two effective solutions. One choice is to simply fill the crack with a polyurethane sealant. The other is to employ a hydrophobic membrane to cover and water-resistant the area. Most homeowners pair both solutions for total support and moisture protection. * Basement waterproofing : If your foundation problems are being caused by poor drainage, we recommend a basement waterproofing system. Because moisture can exacerbate cracks, pressure, and other issues, it’s best to ensure that water is not leaking into your basement. While waterproofing will not fix existing damage, together with foundation repair it can help your home avoid future problems.

Don’t wait if your foundation is settling or cracking. These issues will only deterioriate, not better, and as time progresses, they are going to continue to decrease your property price and increase instability. Your foundation contractors are here to help, so contact them today to find out more about solutions for your home.
